Protests intensify in Los Angeles after Trump deploys hundreds of National Guard troops

National Guard troops have begun arriving on President Trump's orders in response to immigration protests.

The recent protests have drawn hundreds of participants but remain far smaller than other mass demonstrations, including the 2020 protests against police violence that spurred Newsom to request assistance from the National Guard.

      Exactly. Be peaceful above all but now isn’t the time to picket ICE or DHS installations. Make Trump look like the dictator and loser he is by wasting the Guards time. Observation and Reporting should still continue though. Don’t let the controlled and subservient media outlets tell the whole story.

        I mean. That sounds like capitulating.

        Protest and make the national guardsman recognize the protestors as the good guys.

        You know the media will just ignore it if things are quiet and no one is there.

        Well, andor kinda got that wrong.

        They just need one or two good clips of people being violent, that they can put on blast.

        Doesn’t need to be a recent clip, or an actual liberal insurrection or even happening in the US.’

          If I had a nickel for every time Fox News rolled that clip of the alleged gang members holding rifles in that apartment hallway I’m sure I could buy something quite nice for myself.

            I remember during the Floyd riots, my grandma from Missouri kept sending me clips of things.

            “Grandma, this is Minnesota. We don’t speak French.” Had to be said more than a few times.

            She still think’s Minneapolis is a war zone, even thought the last time she was here I took her for a drive through, showing how it’s not.

      Not protesting isn’t going to change the narrative. His base still believes every major city literally burnt down during the 2020 protests.

      Honestly I thought you just meant they’d take footage from a recent riot somewhere in Italy and claim it was Inglewood, manufacturing evidence is certainly in the playbook as we’ve seen from previous wars.

      I just saw that post on Reddit and checked the comments. Boy has that place been astroturfed to hell and back. Soooo many (item)(item)(number) one month old accounts starting arguments and people buying in and engaging. I had to stop pointing out to people they are arguing with paid actors because I didn’t want to think there were that many idiots among my cohort.

      Honestly, his daily briefings are just telling him what he wants to hear. He might have had some pushback in his first term, but those people have all be purged by now.

    The news is really trying to sensationalize it but yes, it’s by and large very peaceful. Also for some reason, line dancing.

      Same as with Portland and Seattle’s autonomous zone, either nothing was happening or the things that were happening was because of the feds

      Boredom, I imagine.

      It’s not a bad strategy for the protest organizers, though. If you see someone sullenly staring down the cops (who tend to be itching for reasons to pick fights), grabbing ‘em up for a nerves break is a good way to defray the situation — and demoralize the cops who are stuck at work while others have fun around them.

      Absolutely, the headlines and reported words don’t match the video evidence at all. The best they had was police pushing against a small group of maybe 30-50 protestors.

      That’s about as non-threatening an activity as a group can do.

      The world is watching, and everyone knows what opening fire on a line dance party would look like.

    Fucking finally. This is how it mostly was last night too. I watched the videos on live stream and it sure seemed like there were more ICE than protesters. Glad the national guard didn’t have to make any evil vs. good choices when they got there.
