By 2023, it had expanded to more than 2,500 retail locations in more than 80 countries and was available to purchase online in more than 60 markets.
How have I never heard of this place before?
You don’t hear it, you smell it.
Wife arrives in the house but you can’t see her yet: … honey? … Did you go to The Body Shop again?
I think most of their locations are in malls or upscale shopping districts. So if you don’t go to the mall or upscale shopping districts you probably would never know they existed.
Also if you are a single guy or a guy with a low maintenance lady, even less likely to know about them.
Yep. Haven’t seen one in ten years but used to go all the time. No malls anywhere near me now.
It’s still a strong brand name. I’ll be surprised if no one swoops in to buy it and start selling their products in other retail stores.
Looks like it’s just their American and Canadian stores that are affected according to this article.
I was reading a different article about this last week. Apparently the UK parent already filed for bankruptcy a while back. The Canadian branch was actually doing OK, but the parent company siphoned off all profits and took them down with them.
They must not have increased profits one year.
The monsters. They can all burn in hell.
To be fair hell probably smells like a four alarm fire at a body shop warehouse.
Oops. Efficiency in globalisation for the win /s
Welp, that seems about right.
They shut down operation in Switzerland too. It’s not just North America.
I hope it was something unholy. At least.
this was a good company, will be missed.
RIP Satsuma body butter.
Where am I to do unholy things now behind my partner’s back?
Yay. Less stink in the malls.
I don’t think malls can afford to lose much else…
I think society can afford to lose malls
That’s what LUSH does. I can barely walk by the stores without it’s intense cacophony of scents assaulting my nose. It’s awful.
Glad we stocked up on the things we used most when we heard about the UK parent company filing for bankruptcy.
