But the advantage is that Lemmy allows Tor. 😅
I know I am normally recognizable, but currently if someone doesn’t have display names or avatars visible they probably won’t know who I am on this account since it’s my old username, from Reddit.
Oh, you sweet summer child.
I’ve only seen “you sweet summer child” a handful of times on Lemmy
Does that mean my grandma was the OG memer? Bless your hearts.
I would like to see a lot less of it
Oh, you umami monsoon adolescent.

Oh, you bitter elder of autumn.
Oh, you salty spring chicken
Oh, you lime and pepper avocado.
Oh, you throwaway account nr 0430.
Oh, you farm fresh egg.
Oh, you savory smarch centenarian…
For some of the really prolific posters, yes. But there are also lurkers like me.
I doubt anyone can recognize me when I comment or encounter a comment I made.
Having a pfp greatly increases my recognition of other users. So you’re already proving more recognizable than most users who have none.
Can’t remember exactly why I put a profile picture here, but I guess I was thinking “oh, someone might use the same username I use in some other instance, so I guess I’ll put something to differentiate.”
Whether or not that actually hurts my own statement, I’ll leave it for the others to decide. I think posting/comment volume + striking username (and profile picture) + unique voice = recognizability. I think only have one of three, so… IDK!
I’m order to prove you wrong, I am committed to remembering your username.
Thanks…?
Let’s see when we meet each other in some other corner of Lemmy.
until we see each other again 🫡
I love your username, I used to use it on another platform.
User tags make recognizing people a lot easier. I see tagged users a lot. Voyager even keeps a running total of how many times I have upvoted and downvoted particular users.
There’s one user I have at like -30, tagged as a Nazi apologist. And sure enough, every time I scroll past them, they’re commenting some weird BS.
How do you tag users on voyager?
Go to the user screen, then use the menu button in the top corner. There’s an “Edit Tag” option.
Heyyy, it apparently works the same on Boost. In honor of teaching me how to tag people, you are now tagged as “Tagged”. Thank you and congratulations!
Oh, I use that too on my mobile app (Voyager). I am starting to think that once the total votes reach some threshold, either I’d encounter them consistently dishing out hot takes, or I’m primed to think their take is hot and spicy.
I will never forget you.
I don’t think I’ve done anything that would warrant that, but thanks!
I’m just hanging around at random places. Wherever my fancy takes me.
I rarely post too, since I rarely have anything to say or add.
Potentially unpopular protip: I’ve blocked most of the “prolific” posters. My entire feed was becoming repurposed memes from 2015.
I’m happy there are people out there dedicating time to keeping Lemmy “active” but that is not how I want to live my life.
that’s why i like it. on reddit, i’m just some other idiot smartass. on lemmy, i’m THAT idiot smartass. i’ve also done a great job convincing people i live in canada, while all the while i’m up here chilling in canada. fools, the lot of you.
Guys, I’m beginning to suspect this guy might live in canada.
i just reported you for doxxing lmao (edit - i didn’t)
God, you always say that.
yeah, i know. but did i mention i live in canada?
I feel like Canada is was over represented here and in a lot of media. It only has 40 million people total but is somehow a massive chunk of online presence
i’d ask you where you’re from, but i already know because you said “here” without specifying. take that as you will.
that said, you have a good point. the crtc here (Canada) is the equivalent of the fcc down there. we have laws that require media organizations to prioritize canadian content above us content.
At least people are keeping my mother’s name out of their damn mouth.
can’t wait for G.I. Jane 2
This message brought to you by fandango. Some how you can stream movies that are still in theaters but no one trust us enough to find out how.
I actually do trust them to find out how, and how is by charging the same as about 3 movie tickets.
Yeah but do I have to apply for their subscription servixe too? Do they then play endless ads? I dont care to find out.
It’s like what Disney+ did during lockdown. I believe you had to have the subscription to then gain the privilege of paying another $20 for a movie. Still cheaper than going to the movies for a family though.
I subscribed to her only fans page 😁
I think she’s ugly
who the fuck are you
Yea I made a throwaway so nobody can recognize me.
Try doxxing me now 😉
(But seriously tho, there were weirdos that follow you around and mass dovote 🤷♂️)
Not just that, but they also use those tagging extensions in case they have an opportunity to bring up some shit from the past because they have nothing better to do than to keep tabs on everyone like it matters. Very normal and stable people.
Get off my lawn!
Voyager enhances his effect by counting your votes on individuals. You start seeing people with big numbers.
I miss that from reddit enhancement suite. I like seeing who I interact with and who interacts with me. I occasionally browse comment activity here on mbin to get a bit of an idea of it.
I use Voyager but I don’t see this. Is it a feature I have to turn on?
You can find it in the User Tags section in the prefs. If you don’t see it, your voyager might be really out of date.
You have a [+3] for me! (Because I have upvoted you three times in the past. If I wasn’t clear about how it works.)
Another thing I discover about Voyager lol. +1 award
Thanks! Apparently only tracks score for votes since you enable the tagging feature. Prior history is not saved.
And it only gives you the votes you give while using Voyager. If you’re using Lemmy via other platforms (like desktop/laptop) or other apps, of course it won’t give you the full picture.
It’s on by default. The number should appear next to the username once you’ve liked one of their posts
