But the advantage is that Lemmy allows Tor. 😅

For some of the really prolific posters, yes. But there are also lurkers like me.

I doubt anyone can recognize me when I comment or encounter a comment I made.

Can’t remember exactly why I put a profile picture here, but I guess I was thinking “oh, someone might use the same username I use in some other instance, so I guess I’ll put something to differentiate.”

Whether or not that actually hurts my own statement, I’ll leave it for the others to decide. I think posting/comment volume + striking username (and profile picture) + unique voice = recognizability. I think only have one of three, so… IDK!

User tags make recognizing people a lot easier. I see tagged users a lot. Voyager even keeps a running total of how many times I have upvoted and downvoted particular users.

There’s one user I have at like -30, tagged as a Nazi apologist. And sure enough, every time I scroll past them, they’re commenting some weird BS.

Oh, I use that too on my mobile app (Voyager). I am starting to think that once the total votes reach some threshold, either I’d encounter them consistently dishing out hot takes, or I’m primed to think their take is hot and spicy.

Pakalat-kalat lang ako. Kung saan lang mapagtripan. 😅

Bihira lang din akong magpost kasi madalas wala rin naman akong masabi o maidagdag.

I’m just hanging around at random places. Wherever my fancy takes me.

I rarely post too, since I rarely have anything to say or add.

Potentially unpopular protip: I’ve blocked most of the “prolific” posters. My entire feed was becoming repurposed memes from 2015.

I’m happy there are people out there dedicating time to keeping Lemmy “active” but that is not how I want to live my life.

I feel like Canada is was over represented here and in a lot of media. It only has 40 million people total but is somehow a massive chunk of online presence

i’d ask you where you’re from, but i already know because you said “here” without specifying. take that as you will.

that said, you have a good point. the crtc here (Canada) is the equivalent of the fcc down there. we have laws that require media organizations to prioritize canadian content above us content.

Voyager enhances his effect by counting your votes on individuals. You start seeing people with big numbers.

I miss that from reddit enhancement suite. I like seeing who I interact with and who interacts with me. I occasionally browse comment activity here on mbin to get a bit of an idea of it.

You can find it in the User Tags section in the prefs. If you don’t see it, your voyager might be really out of date.

You have a [+3] for me! (Because I have upvoted you three times in the past. If I wasn’t clear about how it works.)

Thanks! Apparently only tracks score for votes since you enable the tagging feature. Prior history is not saved.

And it only gives you the votes you give while using Voyager. If you’re using Lemmy via other platforms (like desktop/laptop) or other apps, of course it won’t give you the full picture.

It’s on by default. The number should appear next to the username once you’ve liked one of their posts
