The woman entered the garage to take care of her two dogs and the 6-year-old boy opened the door behind her. When he opened the door the boy was first attacked by one dog with the other eventually joining in.
This “woman” who keeps killer dogs in the garage should be charged with manslaughter.
Dogs don’t live in garages, and if you have to hide them away from 6 year old boys because they will maul them to death, maybe you shouldn’t be inviting a 6 year old boy into your home.
Shutting dogs as big as a Dane/Mastiff mix in a garage as well. I wouldn’t even get those unless I had a giant yard for them to run around in. No wonder they were aggressive.
There’s always human decisions behind every dog injury.
And usually those decisions involve significant abuse or neglect.
I wouldn’t say usually. I think most dog injuries aren’t even bites, but trip and falls. Most state dog bite statutes are written as strict liability for any injury caused by a dog. I’ve seen cases where a dog runs out into traffic, causes a car to swerve and hit a, pedestrian, and the owner of the dog is liable. Another common one is a package car driver who comes to your door and get startled by your dog and falls off your step, something like that. Most dog bite injuries are people that work with dogs, vet techs and so forth. Point is, dogs are domesticated. They don’t do anything without human decisions. Even in places where they have feral dogs, that’s because of human decisionmaking.
I’m just talking about dogs that attack humans.
Even with dog bites, I think most bites are caused by negligence. People who aren’t careful enough when opening their door, or when new peipoe walk up tk the dog, or obviously people that don’t train their dog (or themselves) to properly control the dog and manage the dog’s emotions.
How often do you see it where someone’s dog gets excited at something, and the owner starts yelling at the dog and similarly freaking out? It only makes the dog more excited. Dogs are looking to humans for their behavior and emotional cues. Calm human, calm dog.
At my house we greet people quietly and welcome them in calmly. The dog just sits there until he’s invited over to say hello.
If people come in and start doing that loud sing-song excited greeting bullshit, the dog runs over and starts pushing into people while nervously wagging. That’s not abusive, but I bet that’s what leads to the substantial majority of dog bites. If a dog bites, and the victim, or the owner, starts screaming or tries to hit or kick the dog, that just makes the dog panic more, bite more, “attack” more. That’s not an aggressive dog, that’s a defensive dog.
Dog injury statistics are all shit. It’s nobody’s job to keep an accurate count or to accurately report the breed or cause.
I’m going to guess that on a normal day they are allowed to run free in the house and in the yard, but on days when she except guardianship of the child, she put them in the garage because they are known for attacking small animals. I am curious if they have killed other small dogs or cats– maybe children, check the backyard.
I have a life altering physical disability from a dog attack while working delivery, two dogs ran around her when the client opened the door. It required surgery, years of PT and I am no longer able to stand or walk for more than a few hours. I live my life in constant pain because of another person’s recklessness.
That poor child, what an atrocious way to die. This careless woman is a monster. But more over, people need to understand that dogs are dangerous, just because they are friendly with YOU does not mean they aren’t a threat to others.
Great Dane / Mastiff mixes. That’s like putting two horses in your garage.
Great Dane / Mastiff mixes
Guess I just lost my bet as to what the breed was going to be.
For anyone one confused, your pets are not family members, they are animals. Every dog is not a service animal. Sorry that you suffer from anxiety but that doesn’t mean you can bring your poorly trained dog with you to Walmart. Just like kids, people need to understand there is a responsibility to have a pet. Train your fucking dogs and if you can’t then properly handle them as such, I.e. if you weigh 100 lbs don’t get a 100 lb dog. Fuck, people are stupid.
As much as I love dogs, I understand the sentiment. But fish and birds don’t do this kind of damage so I don’t think it’s fair to say every pet can’t be family
My point with family is people give way too much leeway with animals and forget they are animals. Birds can do a lot of damage depending on the situation. A parrot around a child can inflict a lot of damage. Fish would be harder unless you have a huge saltwater tank. If you see a person hanging a large snake on a kid we immediately call it stupid. Yes, dogs are domesticated but it doesn’t mean they are always calm.
