Let me know when we can start trading pollution futures. Ideally I can make money by dumping chemicals into a specific reflecting pool.

Nvm, that’s just “prediction” markets. Fuck me. I try to make a joke about how ridiculous this reality is by being even more absurd - and it’s already a reality. This is why satire is dead.

Making it illegal to be efficient. Perfect example of why the US is too dumb to continue to exist.

Namely the Republican party. Their opponents have problems too but let’s be honest here, things would start looking a lot better.

if all the icecaps and glaciers melt, which they currently are, Florida is going the way of Atlantis. Never mind making liberal heads explode or throwing marginalized outgroup profiles in prison for fun and profit; you’d think sheer simple self-preservation would mean something.

The mouth breathers either don’t believe in global warming, or don’t care because they figure they’ll be dead by the time the bill comes due. Basically the classic conservative take of “fuck you, I got mine”.

or don’t care because they figure they’ll be dead by the time the bill comes due

I don’t get people who think like that. Don’t they have kids, grandkids? They might not have to suffer the consequences, but their descendants do.

but atlantis can survive underwater, and can fly to another galaxy. florida is going to become a seafloor soon, if not the various invasive species taking over florida. Plus the MOUSE is whats keeping florida upfloat, both directly and indirectly.

I don’t understand the purpose of so many restrictive policies. Very overbearing to have a government like that

Makes no fucking sense. Also this lame ass “government” shouldn’t be even allowed to dictate this shit to businesses.

All I can think of is coal lobbyists paying for this shit to happen. Fuck you all; wish you the worst.

HB 1217 also prevents local governments from purchasing items such as vehicles or appliances based on the fuels they use

Technically this allows for malicious compliance “actually we wanted to buy a gas powered engine but the law didn’t allow us to specify the fuel”

All in all, wtf is even the point of this? You have to assume some fuel people gave him money.

    From the bill:

“Net zero policy” means any policy, program, or initiative designed to achieve a balance between total amount of greenhouse gas emitted into the atmosphere with an equal amount removed from the atmosphere.

It really is the exact sort of dumb you can weasel out of. “Our program seeks to be carbon negative” is not net-zero, nor is just setting one of the intermediate goal points as the goal (e.g., instead of net-zero by 2050, 50% reduction by 2035). There are some specific restrictions about cap and trade policies and taxes based on carbon content though, so it’s not just the net-zero restriction.

I don’t know one that sums up Florida, but I know one that sums up how I feel about Florida: Fremdschämen.

Edit: Actually, I guess we could just add Höllenloch to it and get what you were trying to say: Fremdschämenshöllenloch or Vicariously embarrassing hell hole. I’m sure someone whose German is much, much better than mine will breeze through here and correct me.
