fediverse and atproto support, let’s not make the same mistake as fediverse/mastodon (edit: calling the network “mastodon” when it isn’t. Bluesky has many problems and should be avoided but there’s other parts in this network that are building independence: see blacksky, or microcosm.blue)
I don’t see why it’s a mistake. People simplify stuff, and those who care about such things (mostly us) will know the difference. If I explain what is mastodon to regular people, I just say “a twitter clone”. People don’t care about how this things work under the hood, it’s just a minute detail.
I’m talking specifically about calling the network, ie the interconnection of independent softwares, as “mastodon”. It’s not about explaining how mastodon works, it’s implying everything works this way. This very platform we are using is definitely not mastodon, but is definitely part of the fediverse
I do not understand your gripe on this. We know the network is the Fediverse (Federated network) and that the platform is Mastodon, just as this platform is Lemmy.
Their original complaint was that OP called AtProto “Bluesky”, presumably that’s what they are still complaining about. And reasonably IMO. Saying “Bluesky” instead of “AtProto” is like saying “Substack” instead of “blog”.

What mistake?
Calling mastodon.social a decentralized network haha. The experience of running and using your instance is soooooo bad because they don’t care at all

Fediverse and ATmosphere ActivityPub and ATproto Mastodon and Bluesky
What mistake was that?
calling the network “mastodon”
You mean calling it Bluesky (instead of AtProto). You seem confused about your own gripe! But I agree with the point.
