Just Dance Vance is going to learn a hard lesson about why trying to chameleon in and ingratiate yourself with a narcissistic cult leader doesn’t end on a good note.

JD should be looking at Mike Pence to understand his future. Trump will let his mob drag you to the gallows if you try to step out from under his shadow.

Trump has no intention of leaving in 2029. He isn’t building that ballroom and golf course for the next guy. We’re going to have to drag him out of the White House in shackles, if he’s lucky.

For an old fat guy there’s a pretty high actuarial chance they don’t make it another few years. But the point of running is that being a presidential candidate by itself makes you able to run pacs and take in bribe money. So they will be running for president for the next term no matter what.

it’s funny to me that people are pretending like he’s not just going to run again. He wants to be a dictator just like his favorite people, pootin and kim jong un. And all his stupid mouth breathing knuckle dragging supporters will just line up with whatever dumb bullshit excuse is fed to them “but presidents are only limited to two consecutive terms!” “but FDR!” “but he’s a war-time president!”

There is no level of duplicitous stupidity these traitors won’t stoop to.

You probably already know this, but at the time when FDR ran for and won 4 terms, the two term rule was just a customary practice. It wasn’t written into the constitution.

After FDR died, Americans wrote up the two term rule as the 22nd amendment, and adopted it into the constitution.

And then there are the people who actually think he’s going to run, when what he’s probably going to try to do is declare himself Perma president

I think he’s likely to not run again. Why run if you can just abolish the election?

Even the Norks, Russia, and China hold elections it’s just that they are Kabuki theater. But it helps grant legitimacy. Now mind you I one hundred percent think him and his supporters could try to cancel the election, but that would also likely backfire in some way. Probably a statement of non recognition of the feds by most states and a cutting off of interactions with the feds.

Yeah he’s been openly suggesting a 3rd term for a while now. Selling hats and other merch. There have been multiple officials throughout the past 2 years publicly comment that they are looking for ways around the term limits. Every justification is some weasely attempt at semantics. Every criticism is met with ‘he isn’t serious’ or some such hand wave.

Yet here we are. Some folks still pretending like it ain’t plain as day.

Sure I think he will run again, but can you explain how he would do anything other than siphon votes off and guarantee and Democrat victory? Surely all the swing states are going to ban him from the ballot, and its impossible to win without them.

Ya, I’m just trying to think about the actual mechanism he can use. To pull it off you have to get all the states to cooperate. That is near impossible.

Probably try to use Colorado attempting to strip him from the ballot in 24 as precedent to claim he cant be removed from the ballot in 28. Mind you there’s garunteed to be far more states involved and frankly speaking the language of the constitution is clear on this one, so even if the supreme court favors Trump it’s far more likely they’ll just be ignored.

Precisely. I hate to say it, but I agree with Trump here (about it being too early, not about JD being terrific)

“It’s too early,” Trump responded. “I mean, it’s too early. I think he’s terrific. There’s so many terrific people.”

talking about the next election (2028) is the fastest track to acknowleding the lame-ducked-ness of the current occupant. I say speculate away.

No. We should not be talking about elections 2 YEARS IN ADVANCE! it’s not fucking normal! I do not want every day of every year to be occupied by electoralism.

In American electoral politics, it is ‘fucking normal’ to be talking about the next presidential election cycle following the midterms, and the midterms are in like 2 weeks. It’s ‘fucking normal’ to start marginalizing the current administration because they can’t run for re-election again and to start focusing on new people, and despite your hysterics, I think we could actually agree that paying less attention to Donald Trump would be a great thing for literally everybody, so calm your fucking tits.

            following the midterms

One problem. The midterms haven’t even finished. This is preceding the midterms.

It’s ‘fucking normal’ to start marginalizing the current administration

That’s fine. But we don’t need to start talking about elections! It leads to thinks like good ol’ Mitch saying we can’t let Congress vote on a SCOTUS position because we’re a year away from an election.

Your patronizing tone is not welcome. I don’t fucking care what the status quo is, I’m sick and fucking tired of the status quo.

It’s also normal for them to put christmas decorations out in some stores before thanksgiving and you’ll still get people whining that it’s too soon or whatever. This is all just a weird complaint, because it happens every election cycle, and, we’d ideally like to move on. The zombie corpse of Mitch McConnell can read a calendar and the political reality as much as anyone. They’ll use whatever tricks they have to fuck over as many people as they can as long as they can. But we need to start talking about whatever the post-Trump era will look like, nobody wants to stay mired in this.

In case you forgot, that wasn’t a hypothetical. It actually occurred during Obama’s admin. Enough people thought “yea that sounds right” to the point that there wasn’t even a procedural change in SCOTUS selection.

Christmas decorations being up early is one thing. Talking about electoral politics is an entirely different thing, that actually has consequences. People tune out of politics all together because we talk about elections years before they actually happen.

Both parties absolutely love that we spend all our time with politics discussing elections, because all they do day in and day out is fundraise for their parties. Assuming that they never eat or sleep, politicians in both parties have less than 30 seconds to review bills before they vote on them, because of all the fundraising they do. The constant electoralism means that they never have to change.

Article 25 the old bastard. This way trump goes down in flames (have him commuted mentallh deficient hehehe) And Vance gets an extra term which doesn’t count to 2 term limit
