The U.S. and Israel shouldn’t have started the war on Iran, but Iran hasn’t been entirely undeserving of sanctions, particularly for its human rights abuses and its enormous aid to the Russian war effort (over 57,000 Shahed-class drones have been deployed as of April 2026) in its invasion of Ukraine.

The USA is responsible for millions of deaths. No sanctions are placed on them. Israel is a genocidal settler-colonial power, with only weak sanctions on certain individuals after it accelerated the genocide after October 7 but no sanctions on the state itself. Europe is selling weapons for Israel to continue genocide and been doing it for decades; no sanctions are placed on Europe. Saudi Arabia is as radical as Iran in applying religion, and there are no sanctions on them. When will you idiots stop acting like the world police?

There was sanctions on Iranians missiles and drones even before the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine . So this is pure bullshit. It is was never about Ukraine especially when Israel has good relation with Russia too . Russia remains one of Israel’s largest suppliers of crude oil and fuel. In 2010 Israel and Russia has signed a military cooperation agreement including advanced reconnaissance drones

I’m afraid we no longer live in a world where it matters. It’s good to have rules, but for some reason might is right has become the new standard.

I’m no expert, but it seemed like we had more of a rules-based order before. But not everywhere of course, sone countries still projected power outside international law. But international law requires a consensus by a majority. Idk, maybe the only difference is that the US is now threatening us too, and not just the ones they always threatened.

If there’s no Mines then I don’t see them being able to charge a fee if they skirt the Southern edge that’s not their waters

There are at least half a dozen similar types of straits globally that could have “fees” added to them. Are you suggesting that this would be a good trend to catch on? Literally increases costs of shipping globally. Who do you think will be paying all of these cost increases?
