As long as it was legal when they did it, even if the law changes to make their actions now illegal we can’t do anything. The law would have to be found unconstitutional.
At this point, why do they even care about laundering money? No one is enforcing laws against them as it is.
Because (in theory) a not-so-corruptable administration/Congress could come into power again and start enforcing the rules.
