3·1 month agoSomething I forgot to mention, you can “fix” the speed in the Super Game Boy FPGA core by going into the core’s settings.

3·1 month agoThe main Analogue Pocket FPGA core(s) for playing Game Boy cartridges doesn’t recognize these Wisdom Tree carts as legit carts, as far as the system behaves - there’s nothing in the slot.
There is an openFPGA core for the Super Game Boy, though, that will read original Game Boy games from the cart slot, and I’ve found that I can play Wisdom Tree carts if I use that openFPGA core.
But also… Yes - the AP can be a FPGA SNES that can read roms from the sdcard, and is also a lot of other systems by using openFPGA cores. Combined with the dock and some wireless controllers, it’s a less powerful mister system - but a portable one!

4·1 month agoI had the King James Bible and Joshua carts as a kid (and still do), but I never realized just how many games Wisdom Tree released on the Game Boy!

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•New game! Been on my wishlist for a very long timeEnglish
4·1 month agoIt’s a turn based strategy game, I expect it to be slow. 🤷
Obviously I just received it today, so I’m not very far in it yet. No idea if the story or gameplay will be for me, but I’m excited to find out! I’ve seen a lot of praise for it over the years so it’s very satisfying to finally have the cart in my hands.
I will say so far, that I don’t appreciate having instructional pop-ups with every action I take for each turn - only needed those the first time. I also like (and also wonder if I’ll grow to dislike) the fact that I’m not controlling every single character on my team.
I’ll add those to the list, thanks!
I never owned one! Wasn’t even aware of it as a kid, all I knew was Game Boy and Game Gear back then.
I still don’t have the original hardware, though these carts are making me consider tracking an original system down. I’m using an Analogue Pocket system to play these at the moment.
I appreciate that, it is my new thing!
But too many online reply “Pfffft! That’s not new, it’s been around for a year!”, so some of us try to head them off.
I can now confirm that it’s great hitting the seagull with a hackey sack on the Lynx version too!

You should look up this book!
