  • Functionally all new apps are “Linux development work”, as modern C# solutions are containerised and hosted on Linux servers.

Microsoft gave up on Windows servers a decade ago when they released .net Core, as it was the sound solution to ensure continual growth of Azure and fighting off Java adoption hosted through AWS/GCP

.net framework is a niche framework now, which just a few legacy platforms run today.

However the reason IT requires Mac and Windows for everyone, is because they can lock those machines down. Like mad down, they don’t want to build software to lock Linux machines down from a central place.

  • There’s largely still above average working conditions for the people that do land a job in tech, but right now the job security is rather low.

The thing is, if you’re managing an important project. The companies want to pay extra, to ensure they’re having decent people hired and have their time if something breaks out of hours.

But remote hirers, do also factor regional factors into account. Most US companies okay with remote workers, will have payranges per state. Most European companies, have at least pay ranges per country. You’re getting paid more in Denmark than you’d be in Hungary as an example. To account for cost of living as well as local competition

  • They’re kinda comparing apples and oranges, fairphone doesn’t really have a budget phone.

They just have one model, which they gradually upgrade the hardware of and gives a new number.

Right now there’s barely any sellers of a Fairphone 4 as an example, and you’re able to get it for ~400 euroes from refurbished condition sellers.

Most brands, continues to sell old models. Which ends up as the budget phone 3 generations down the line. But fairphone doesn’t, they only sell a fairly powerful phone from new condition.

  • The Soviet Union collapsed because it essentially was an end game capitalistic system. With very few owners, one could argue one owner. It’s the aspiring goal of unchecked capitalism.

Russia then replaced it, with an umbrella of oligarchs and most Western countries. Most notably the US. Has copied a similar system, it’s rotten to the core.

We’re not going to see an improvement of our current system, before an elite class in one society is removed. Personally I think the US, UK or China will see the first uprising.

We need to either tax capital higher than base yields or tax death/inheritance to a degree generational wealth can’t occur.

Everything points to capitalism being the best system we know of, but we need to counter the problems that arises from it.
