The remaster really does look great, and it’s clear they put a lot of passion and love into it.
But “atmosphere” is a tricky concept, and I didn’t feel like the remaster really captured the original’s. Instead it replaced it with its own more “epic” atmosphere. The difference is most jarring to me with NPCs. The corny, cheesy vibes they give off take me right out of the new “epic” tone. But in the original, it all just fits.
In general I agree with the sentiment, but this was definitely not the case with Oblivion.
