True. It’s fascinatingly scary listening to their mental gymnastics of why they support Trump.
The scary part for me is not the Presidency. It’s that these sorts of gymnastics are not isolated to their politics. It’s that they actually believe that they are right. And if anyone opposes them is not worth considering. It’s a total divide in even seeing another person’s perspective as equalily valid.
Lefty American with some righty acquaintances. I’m able to crack their mental images of certain insane topics, like immigration, taxes, and birth control. But they’re immediately sucked back in when they go home and run on Facebook, OANN, Fox and similar online/media. It’s really frustrating, but I’m gonna keep pressing where I see soft spots. Social engineering for politics is possible, but it’s very steep uphill battle.

If you’re a centrust, how could you possibly choose the conservatives over the equal liberty party?
I don’t understand how anyone on the fence could even consider voting red at this point in time. Republicans have absolutely no policy goals in mind other than “we got to secure our border” and “we need to drill more”. Both of which they have already proven by their actions to be just talking points. Everything else that I’ve seen the Republicans try to push is based on hate and control of the people.
So help me out here, what is it about the right side of things that you might think would be better than the left that’s keeping you on the fence?
You’re assuming Trump could win. He won’t. He had his chance. He could have had a second consecutive term, and he didn’t. Why? Because of the “low energy” votes.
People were motivated against him. People have short memories and he very much could win again.
He could win again, but it absolutely can be prevented if we act.
Reversing the harm he’s caused, and his predecessors who laid the groundwork for his presidency caused… I’m hopeful we can do, but it won’t be easy.
