Privacy@lemmy.ml•What’s so bad about proton, and is there alternatives to all of their services?
2·17 days agoI once saw people also recommend airvpn in the same context as ivpn, do they also have some issues or are they just too unknown?
As a consumer I hate AI-slopped apps. They activly make the experience worse!

3·1 month agoNothig is wrong with a textfile if it works for you. The todo-list apps and time tracking apps just offer easily accessable features like projects, tags, subtasks, maybe some sync festures and import features from some calender or something. So you don’t have to build a system to organize your stuff yourself.

6·1 month agoI stuck with superproductivity. It supperts boards (you can configure your own board, but kanban and eisenhower are build in i think (i dont use that feature) i like how they handle projects and task storage. They have a philosophy of not adding task from a project to the daily clutter, you chose yourself. If helps to not feel overwhelmed and it can store tasks.
Its not that good for lists of things imo, its better for for timetracking. But you can create a task and easily do subtasks and use it as a list. Also I think it is installable via docker but I don’t know, I havent used docker, but a search gave some results.

321·1 month agoI think it’s way too rare for brave to catch strays like this. Like it’s only at some nieche comment section where one person says things like “yea the founder is a homophobe”. I only ever see praise about it (and some people calling it scammy here on lemmy lol)
I played a few when they first popped up and the logical flaws in them are clear as hell AI slop. I wish I could remove developers from my f-droid client somehow

Linux@lemmy.ml•I fucked up my old spare PC trying to install Linux and I'd like to freshly install a more compatible Linux for an older computer
21·2 months agoYou are just able to say that because you spend 100+$ on the pre-installed OS. You could also spend the same amount for an IT person to install you linux and then have a very stable time anyways. Linux doesn’t force you to update, if something breaks you don’t need to interact with it. On many distros there are system backups preconfigured, if something breaks you can roll back pretty easily. There is a trade-off, ease of use and ease of fix. Linux is way easier to use, thanks to no bloat and package manager, but slightly harder to fix when a problem occurs, because you have to interact with the system. And to be honest, the system isn’t as scary. Documentation is often enough, but if you are lazy and want the fix currated there is AI to help you.

I try to go after the biggest improvement. Aka I recommend a different browser when the opportunity arrives. Like when they complain about ads.
