I tried calling my ISP several times when IPv6 wasn’t working.

I explained several times that IPv6 is not the same as IPv4. I was reading in the modem logs directly that it was requesting both IPv4 and IPv6 but only getting IPv4 back.

One rep tried to say IPv6 isn’t needed for the internet to work correctly. I said that’s true, but how do I connect to IPv6-only services through IPv4? I had the same modem working with IPv6 at three prior addresses with the same company.

Finally I ended up getting help on Reddit from a stranger that explained the ISP itself is the problem and you need another model that “ignores” the lack of IPv6 in the response (my expertise ends once data crosses over into the modem so I don’t know the specifics).

So dumb.

The A/C actually works quite well for its age. It’s just that after a certain temperature it can’t keep up and I’m heavily inclined to believe it’s due to insulation.

The way I can tell is that as the temperature keeps rising outdoors the unit never seems to shut off. I can see on my temperature sensors (smart home life) that the indoor temperature keeps rising despite the A/C cranking away.

Not that it feels hot inside, it’s still around 10°F cooler. It’s just that the minute you turn it off the temperature climbs to the outdoor temperature in just a few minutes.

My apartment has those old 80’s-style air conditioners but we don’t use them because the insulation doesn’t exist. So even having A/C isn’t the answer depending on the building.

I really can’t stand that so much stuff is still IPv4 only. Gross.

Sidestepping the nightmare everyone else is bringing up: could they containerize their workloads? To me it’d sound simpler to just give them access to a Docker instance or Kubernetes on your machine.

That was my answer. My snarky reply was intended to demonstrate how stupid it was for you to suggest that considering I never brought up that issue.

I love how you say it’s a personal choice then drone on about how people in “some” cultures find it difficult to be vegan but never did you say “hey I live in the Arctic circle where we’re forced to eat animals” (or something like that) so I imagine that for you the issue is irrelevant and you’re just choosing to eat animals.
