95% of my searches, DDG is fine and I’ve learnt where it might struggle and I just end the search with !g

This then searches Google, yeah I’m still using Google for 5% of my searches but it’s better than 100%.

I’ve degoogled apart from:

• Google photos - I have shared storage with my family and I really can’t be doing with sorting out the mess when I cancel my 200GB subscription. I do however back all photos up to my server.
• Pixel phone - I try not use any Google apps/search but the phones are updated regularly and are reasonably good value for money. Other brands have the Google tracking with the OEM tracking on top.

I guess it’s going to stop any standard agencies with a warrant. Confiscating the machine for it to sit in a warehouse until some forensic techs get their hands on it.

Indeed. The issue for these companies. If phones aren’t enticing enough and people start hanging onto devices for an extra year that effecticely cuts their revenue in 1/4.

That’s why icloud got more expensive, it’s why google is trying to monetise your web history for ads. They’re looking for further revenue.

Not sure. The EU legal systems are different to the US. You can’t just sue for millions of damges willy nilly you’d need to display how you’ve been out of pocket by some value and then sue for that. This kind of thing is very hard to put a finger on, also if apple update and/or recall the devices there is nothing to be wronged for (assuming they give refunds, updates, replacements).

I’m assuming in the US you can just sue apple for the fact it was above the limit and gain damages even when it’s had no measurable impact on you?
