There was a period some years ago where Firefox and Chrome were leapfrogging each other: Firefox would get slow and crap so I’d switch, then Chrome would get slow and crap and I’d switch back to FF, and so on. I’ve been on Chrome for quite a while it seems, until this development with uBO, well for me the internet is unusable without a shitblocker, so that’s the end of Chrome. Thankfully FF is up to the job.

And my phaseout of Chrome is complete. My two browsers are now Firefox and Edge. Bit surprised at the latter tbh but it seems reasonably adequate as a secondary browser.

But you DO have a PhD. Claiming it is somehow not valid is a criticism of the establishment that awarded it to you. You’re just suffering from impostor syndrome, that’s all.

Also, no employer will consider someone fresh out of education, even someone with a PhD, to have vast quantitites of useful real-world experience, so even declaring a PhD won’t see you land your first job with the expectations that you’ll ace every bit of it from day one.

It’s good that you realise you know nothing. That is both accurate and useful. But don’t take it too far. What your PhD proves is that you have an ability to learn, understand and communicate, and THAT is what employers are looking for.

It’s for helping out those ground-based fans for sheep; every so often they stall, so an aeroplane drops by and pops out it’s ram air turbine to get it going again. There’s another one installed on other planes called a bovine_air_turbine when the same thing happens to those fans for cows.

Probably significantly fewer. Here in the UK someone’s salary is about half of what it costs a business to employ them. It might be more than that in the USA but there will be other non-salary costs per employee.

True. So the most appropriate solution would be for JSO to perform a LIMITED disruptive protest. This would - and we know because it did - hit the papers and everyone would know about it, spreading the message, and aside from those directly affected would gain them a lot of support.

But then you stop. You’ve done what you needed to. The message is out there, people are talking and thinking about it. And writing to their MPs to express support. And changing the nation’s direction via legitimate democratic process.

This is where JSO went so badly wrong. They didn’t/wouldn’t stop. They kept on disrupting the lives of those around them. They kept ignoring complaints from the public and warnings from the police. They went on to chuck paint at artwork, snooker tables and Stonehenge*. By becoming a bunch of complete and utter wankmuppets they have destroyed any public support they might have had and are now little more than environmental terrorists.

*Yeah I know the details, decomposable powder blah blah. The point is: NOBODY CARES. The only response they get now is “oh no not fucking JSO again”.
