I think the article mentions it. AOL tried to block it and this to and fro went 21 times before finally coming to a stop. MSN and Yahoo later signed a deal, I think, so that the former will work with latter’s contacts properly.
Err, this payment doesn’t block ads. It only switches off personalised ads. So, the user is still seeing ads, just not targeted ones. So the site is getting both user’s money plus ad money. And technically, I am not sure how privacy preserving this is because you will still need to create an account which technically leaves you vulnerable to tracking.
My first smartphone was their cheap Lumia 520. Yes, it had its limitations (it couldn’t natively playback mkv files and no VLC support was there yet; only one paid app offered this basic thing) but the polycarbonate back was good, the battery lived decent enough despite being small and the OS was very smooth.
Back in the day, all features of MS Teams didn’t work properly on Firefox either. I remember installing Edge (then in Preview for Linux) both for trying the browser and getting Teams to work as well.
I have YouTube Premium though not the Family variant and Google won’t just fix their app. It is way behind NewPipe or YouTube ReVanced. No, I don’t need shorts. No I don’t need constant nudges to join groups of YouTubers by paying after I just paid you money, Google!
What I want is system wide quality setting (what exactly does High or Data Saver mean; would it kill you to give 480p, 720p or 1080p as options) or Sponserblock integration (okay, this thing is probably never gonna happen but still). YouTube 's app is a stinking pile of shit. I just use YouTube Music from them and will cancel/not renew my plan after it lapses.
I’ll find a Sun article for this :p.
Wear OS is pitiable. My previous GW 4 40mm had 247 mAh battery and barely lasted a day with AOD on. Plus the charging was so slow. Even with Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch Ultra, it has lesser endurance that what Tizen based Frontier had.
I think Hyper was another Electron based terminal. And talking of terminal and Linux, there exists an electron based file manager for Linux as well. I wonder who exactly their target audience for that is though.
Isn’t maintaining LFS a pain for the long run?
Some internet banking sites give access after only asking for login password. They will only ask for transaction password and OTP (that will only come on phone) later on. Asking for two passwords isn’t necessarily more secure since many people will just reuse their original one again. And OTP instead of offering something like hardware security key is insane.
This is the only true answer here. Answers like Bandcamp (which hardly has a repository big enough) or switching to Tidal aren’t practical. OP paid for his music, and deserves access to it.
I have Amazon Prime as part of Prime Unlimited but holy Christ, have I never gotten their web app to stream in Linux. As long as greediness on part of these lousy corporations live on, piracy would remain the only true option.
IIRC, one can integrate Tidal with music players like Strawberry on nix too, I think.
Huh, I am hearing this source for the first time. I mostly used Mobilism and most of the apps from there used to come clean on Virus Total as well.

I think these guys might be able to hack through the process and get stuff done and think getting other people to follow them will be trivial as well. But just because they didn’t mess up, doesn’t mean other people won’t. A large majority might end up hurting themselves if they follow in their route.
Isn’t medical tourism a thing in the US too; like you can fly to a developing country, get your treatment done by top specialists there and fly back to US and the cost would still be lower than what it would have taken to do in home country.
I just wrote it because it rhymed with the now memed 2004 anti piracy announcement You wouldn’t download a car that was rightfully criticized.
