Climate@slrpnk.net•Cycling like the Dutch would slash the world’s carbon footprintEnglish2·9 days agoIt was the most ridiculously high effort low effort proposal too. I’d be more onboard with emergency housing like that in hotels or apartments, but they wanted to convert shipping containers to housing, take over a city park, and just cram them full of people.
It was absolutely insane.

Climate@slrpnk.net•Cycling like the Dutch would slash the world’s carbon footprintEnglish1·10 days agoIt was getting couched as an “it’s an emergency measure” and a “if it’s uncomfortable, they’ll work harder to be less homeless” thing that we love to do over here, to my eternal frustration. Back when I worked at a low-cost hotel, we’d get migrant farm worker companies rolling through town, and they’d get a tiny room with two queen beds and have four workers split it for a couple months at a time, so it’s not even a particularly unusual arrangement either.

Climate@slrpnk.net•Cycling like the Dutch would slash the world’s carbon footprintEnglish1·10 days agoReally? The legal limit in the US is 70sqft.
This is why I get so confused whenever people bring up increasing density without specifying. Like, we just had a local legal initiative about homeless housing where people were arguing that 8x10 units were acceptable for families to live in.

Climate@slrpnk.net•Cycling like the Dutch would slash the world’s carbon footprintEnglish4·12 days agoPeople really gotta start saying what they mean by “density”, because I’ve had 4 people in 700sqft, and cannot imagine people actually want to live like that.

25·1 month agoHow do you find what you like? I sew, and do dollhouse miniatures, but I haven’t seen any of that on the fediverse yet.
Yeah, they were pretty clear about having bugs, but at that price point, I was expecting a game I could actually play with some bugs on the side, and not a game that was broken at every turn. It seriously soured me on the whole thing.
I couldn’t even build houses because the editor kept randomly deleting stuff, so I tried reloading an earlier save, but the roof and some walls vanished and parts of the house were no longer “inside” the house somehow?
Weird, I got Paralives on launch and asked for a refund after 45min because it was nearly unplayable with bugs for me. It took ages to load, I couldn’t edit my para because the sliders were covered by something, and I couldn’t edit the buildings without the editor just deleting random stuff. My para also refused to do anything because she had low fun, but a bug was keeping her from filling her fun needs.
I might check it out again if it ever leaves early access, but I don’t typically have high hopes for early access games.
The Sims. They keep changing things and making it worse.

I actually find that a wok on a normal flat burner is tops for popcorn tho.
