Fuck them. I love Lemmy because it seems like the ratio of like-minded people is much larger here. Nothing better than seeing other principled people that would rather give up some comforts than deal with ads and bend the knee to the pieces of shit that try to push them.

Even products in the supermarket (such as bread!!) come with ads in the fucking plastic wrapper. I have changed my bread brand due to this. I will absolutely give up any comfort to avoid your manipulation. I will fucking shower in cold water if it means I don’t bend the knee to pieces of shit.

This should serve as motivation to move away from any and all corporations. Do not lose your community. Find a proper free-libre-open-source alternative and move the community there. Communities are important. Corporations are not.

I never liked Discord. First and foremost, nowadays, I cannot log into it when I am using a VPN. And back when I could, it always felt so laggy and clunky.

I think todays society is not used to performant software. Everyone just buys a new computer/smartphone every year or every 2 years or so, so they probably have compute power to run whatsoever. I run old shit. 13 year old desktops or so, with no dedicated graphics card, old smartphones, etc. I need software to be performant.

Agreed. I will never understand how these people got famous. I do understand that they are manipulative and all that, but still… For manipulative people to be successful, one needs to be manipulated. Ya, I plan to do it that way. But spotify quality is enough for me, and if one could get songs easily by just searching/downloading from that hack, it would make my life much easier. I suppose the spotify hack also has more songs than soulseek.

If they WERE in Anna’s Archive, the answer would be “yes”. That is, one can get the songs, and one can do it by going to Anna’s Archive. However, the fact that the songs are NOT in Anna’s Archive, does not prove that the songs from that hack cannot be obtained, which was my question. They could be elsewhere. In some specific site made for that hack. Or some torrent, or something like that. Someplace I don’t know about.

I think people are confusing terms. In my opinion, Trump is not in his position because he is charismatic. He is in his position because he is stupid as fuck. Almost to the point of being retarded (sorry for the term, but fuck that). People of power see Trump as POTUS and think “wait, he is so stupid, I can use him for my own gains”. And they do so. Trump is a marioinette.

Trump is an ugly evil person. But worse than that, he is showing how ugly and evil other people are. And those other people seem to be a significant portion of the population!! I use my own domain. I do not host my own email myself though. For email providers, you have several options, Migadu being one of them. But pretty much all premium email providers nowadays allow you to use your own domain.

For aliases, I would recommend something like Addy. It is basically a forwarding service, that hides your real email address. It is really cool. Spamgourmet used to do this back in the day, but nowadays it is mostly dead.
