That’s right. That’s the reason I shared content about why we have our position.

Just a clarification:

You will not be called a “bootlicker” because you support think cops are there to protect you. That’s something reasonable to believe.

You will be called a “bootlicker” because you are in support of the state, which defends the interest of those in power (aka. political class, “the rich,” bourgeoisie, etc) and its soldiers, which are cops.

I mean no harm; I’m not calling you a “bootlicker.” You are a decent human just sharing your experience. I want to bring “the other side” perspective in a friendly way. I was thinking like you until I was at the other end of their macanas for helping other decent people.

The ACAB is a widespread movement in South America and has good reasons to exist since it is adjacent to Antifa. But the overall reason to hate cops is based on the argument that I explained before in a very brief way.

Totally. Let’s change the world, and be the change we want to see in the world. And of course, understanding the complex sociological problems that lead people to not be able to afford Eco-friendly solutions while looking for ways to make that change possible. 🤗 Direct action is the way to go, voting is more of a “support” tool to kinda move the needle.

Indeed. Yet, hope to live in a green and tolerant society is never dead until we “the greens”, “the anarchists”, “the socialists”, “the terrorists”, “the hippies”, are all dead.

Hopelessness gives space to inaction, and the power to change things requires being active. I firmly believe in the people, like you, who cares and take action. Hence, is reason enough for me to keep on fighting: connect means and ends. It is possible that we’ll die and we’ll still not be where we want to be, but the mere act to organize and work on this project is to make the idea a material reality. It will make easier for more people to follow.

My friend, let’s not give more space to hopelessness, since the work we have to do is to not let it grow. And if we can, even plant the seeds of hope like the Ejercito Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) or Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) show us. Or even, in the case for Brazil, Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST).

Totally agree, hence, the need for organized non-institutional action 😉. In institutional terms, the difference between a bunch of eco-anarchist and eco-terrorist is pretty nebulous to say the truth!

The think with ‘justice’ is that’s a social process. That’s why we use pitchforks, to make sure to get that message across: there are consequences for non-equivocally evil deeds.

I would suggest to, first, join your local Eco-social organizations. Normally the “take a gun a shoot a motherfucker” approach, while very satisfying to say, it’s usually way less effective than organize with your community.

I always thought that architecture can play an interesting part in helping plan designs for affordable and regenerative housing. Most of the current designs are pretty shoddy because of the available materials, but some out-of-the-box thinking or maybe even rescuing some ancestral or aboriginal techniques could be really appreciated to find new ways to solve housing, water management, ergonomic design, leveraging social housing, etc.

I personally think you’ve chosen a real cool profession.

I read about this concept in a book about Ecofascism. The problem with that Malthusian way of thinking is this: Who will we leave behind? How are we gonna implement eugenics? Capitalists are a clear minority, and most of the global south seems to be an excellent target for answering that question.

A better way to look at the problem is to de-escalate and simplify. I mean, if you care about your fellow human beings.

Most of our work is already bullshit, and our industrial capacity (for the most part) can give us nice stuff. At the same time, we get rid of the high-polluting options. The world’s population would self-regulate in horizontal societies just because everything has been that way historically. The phenomenon of hyper-poblation is a centralized-power thing.

It helps, that’s for sure. Is just that, as an effort, is insufficient. I just want the readers to not lose focus on the origin of the problem, which is the system of power.

You can’t ask the butcher to stop killing, his business is butchering. I understand what you are saying and, of course, keep up the good work fellow solarpunk. What I’m trying to say is that: making political demands to the state of capital has serious limits, and we need to keep on doing that WHILE pre-configurating socio-political organizations. That way we can make resonant means and ends.

Please, do keep in mind that this point of view is created in a “let’s hurry” context. Since houses all around where I was born are affected by landslides and overflowing rivers. And waiting for those politics to work will mean death, or at least sickness or famine for us.

• There are others but I can remember them by name, I would add here some ONGs but I think the best efforts have been those who straight-up work against climate change and social justice, since both are intertwined.
