  • Vote with your heart in the primary. Vote with your head in the general.

“ if there’s but an inch of difference between two candidates, there are a lot of vulnerable people who could be greatly harmed in that inch.”

Perfectly put and this is all I have been saying.

I can’t square this with his previous statement that he didn’t vote for Kamala. I don’t care if it’s California. He has a platform and in my personal opinion it is irresponsible to use that platform to provide cover for people who could have helped stop this, and found a reason not to.

Sorry if I blasphemed Lord Tom. I eagerly await my downvotes for having done so.

  • When I was in J-school, there was a really beautiful system for news articles. The job of the headline was to tell you what the article was about, in the most succinct yet meaningful way possible. Then the story itself was organized such that the most important information was in the opening sentence, the lede, and the most salient facts were in the first paragraphs, with supporting details and background information listed at the end. This was known as the inverted pyramid. That way, if you were in a hurry and just wanted the broad strokes, you could just read the first couple of paragraphs and skim the rest. If you wanted detailed information, you simply kept reading. Also it was easy for a rushed editor to know where to cut if he was constrained for space (in a print world that was a consideration): you just cut from the bottom.

Now the headline is there to entice you into clicking by arousing your curiosity and the story is organized to keep you on the page. It’s deliberately designed to waste your time to optimize ad revenue. Capitalism ruined journalism.
