  • I sympathize with people wanting and trying to leave. Personally, I’m tired. I’ve been fighting these republicans for over a decade. I even spent a weekend in jail for trying to fight for other people’s rights. There is a bigger issue in the US that most people on Lemmy seem to ignore. Let’s say we get all the fascista out of government. Let’s say we push them out and get control and bring back democracy in the US.

If this happens, our problems won’t be fixed. The core issue of the US is the people who have been fed propaganda for decades. The racism, the fear, the hate, all runs deep into the core of their personalities now. And there is nothing I can think of that can change this. Maybe after decades when they all die off and hopefully our kids learn from their mistakes that we might be able to see change. But I don’t see it happening in the next decade. The country is screwed.

So staying and fighting will do fuck all to fix this country. I sympathize with people who have the means and money who are trying to leave. If I wasn’t struggling to make ends meet I’m sure I’d try and do the same.

  • Im seeing these posts twice a day at this point. So someone like myself who is totally ignorant on Linux, I have some questions if anyone can lend advice?

I’ve been on PC windows for over twenty years now. And I use it mostly for video software like davinci resolve. Adobe software workflow. Unreal engine. I use clients harddrives and often times my own for working off of. And often times will send those harddrives to other people and their computers to finish the work. I also occasional play games on steam and Xbox App.

With that said, is it even possible for me to switch over to Linux and keep using all the same software and workflow I have for high end video production workflow?
