Natural gas is just a more palatable word for methane, and burning methane is still putting an enormous amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. But methane by itself is like 10x worse than CO2 and the EPA estimates as much as 10% of all methane for domestic use ends up in the atmosphere. Fun!

Tbf they’re trying. Executive order stopped all fracking and halted in-process permitting. Project applications for new water flood injection projects are being halted because operators are trying to sneak in project that use injection gradients above the fracture gradient (which is literally fracking). Orphaned wells were legislated to be abandoned and operators are being held responsible for finding them, at ( very) exorbitant cost because they just walked away from them and now don’t know where they are or how to really abandon them to the satisfaction of the state regulatory bodies governing protection of drinking water and fresh water resources. There are also moratoriums on oil pumping in several major counties with the intent to phase out all oil production.
The biggest problem California is encountering is that every operator and oil company is suing the state over every piece of legislation they pass. Literally just trying to bog down the courts as long as possible so they can either maximize profits before having to fold or adjust the existing operation or (what they prefer), buy a new governor and legislature that will roll everything back for them once they’re elected.
Well good thing for me I surrounded her with fire barrels and blasted her across the room before her corpse burned to a crisp!

I like how the game caters to all play styles. Like I’ve always been drawn to the thief/rogue play style as my main. So in the group setting I’ve had a blast using her as a scout role too. See where enemies are, find the perfect ambush spot, then send my tank in to either trigger shit and surprise everyone or lure them into my ambush. As I play I feel like that’s what the game was designed for.
But then you see all these other players and play styles and realize they catered to everything. They designed encounters to make tons of playstyles viable. That’s just outstanding world design.
To a lesser degree this is exactly how I dealt with one of the fights in the Goblin Temple - there’s a bridge over the spider pit, and I essentially triggered the fight, retreated across the bridge where my other three characters were waiting with bows in an elevated position, then used my melee characters to prevent him from getting off the bridge.
Then I blew up the bridge. His flaming carcass fell to the spiders below, but alas…he was already dead.

I was thinking today how ridiculously accurate silicone valley (the show) has turned out to be. It feels like CEOs and mid level managers all watched that show and completely missed the fact that it was SATIRE.

As I said, I agree completely. But the teacher was hired into that environment and knowingly signed a puritanesque ethics clause and broke it. That’s why the case was upheld ultimately.
YES, methane stays in the atmosphere a shorter duration as methane, but most of it naturally breaks down into CO2 which then stays in the atmosphere just as long as all the other CO2. It is much worse than CO2 as a greenhouse gas.
