In my experience: the higher up the management chain, the higher the chance that they are just in for the bonuses - not for the company / industry. And those bonuses are always bound to these numbers which need to go up. When the numbers go down, these people are long gone.
The first people to leave aren’t going to be the clock punchers, it will be the best and brightest who can easily find other jobs.
Yes. But some of them are also the most expensive ones, so when they leave costs go down. And we all know “numbers must go up” (=cost must go down).
There is also no requirement to be a “good guy” to attend the conference.
Correct. But it’s kind of the inevitable outcome that only “good guys” attend. Why would any bad actor go there and risk being exposed / caught…

The same people couldn’t wear a face mask to save the lives of their relatives.
Unfortunately the actual enjoyability of a job more often than not correlates with unfair or outright low pay :(
Yes, because they are a) at the tipping point where they control enough institutions so the pieces fall together now, and b) someone came along who’s actually used all those pieces and everyone could see how absolutely unprepared and completely helpless the system and the political opponent was. They realized they don’t need to tiptoe around anymore.
On a scale between 0 and 1 (float) how sure are you exactly?
It does. I don’t want them to be guillotined either. I want to take their money, not their lives.
Its called empathy. Try it.
I saw this argument / line of thought in a couple of similar topics already, and I gotta say this really only works if your oblivious enough to believe all/most asylum seekers want to stay in Greece.
But sure, it’s a nice catchphrase.
Totally the same /s
