I’m not sure. It is good that they are calling for his resignation now.

Are his taxes available to the public?
I don’t even know what people think he did.
It would be more impressive if they had asked Menendez to step down the last time he was on trial for corruption-related crimes.
On April 1, 2015, the United States Department of Justice indicted Menendez and Melgen in United States v. Menendez (3d Cir. 2016). The charges against Menendez included bribery, fraud, and making false statements.
I would like an explanation from some of the people here touting the Second Amendment as an end-all and be-all to explain why it is that only in the past couple of decades has there been a huge gun proliferation.
The assault weapon ban caused prices for banned firearms and banned high capacity magazines in circulation to skyrocket. Every time someone says “assault weapons ban” there is a segment of the population that rushes out to buy a truckload of guns that might be banned in the near future.

Given that Menendez has been here before and didn’t step down, what do you think is different this time?
We now know they are not.
We’ve known since Plessy v. Ferguson.
Ok, thanks
You look at his financial statements. If there’s no record of him paying for the flight then it was necessarily paid by someone else. Propublica wouldn’t necessarily have access to those statements, but an IRS audit would.
Thanks.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I don’t know the first thing about analyzing finances.
Technically, neither one probably paid for it, it was a private jet that they probably own.
I hadn’t considered that.
It’s a gift no matter what
If he had chartered a plane and paid for the flight, it wouldn’t have been a gift, right?
Thomas never reported the 2018 flight to Palm Springs on his annual financial disclosure form, an apparent violation of federal law requiring justices to report most gifts. A Koch network spokesperson said the network did not pay for the private jet. Since Thomas didn’t disclose it, it’s not clear who did pay.
I don’t know how this works, so this is probably a stupid question, but how do you rule out the possibility that Thomas paid for the flight?
In case you hadn’t heard, the state of Texas actually passed a law because this particular school district, Barbers Hill, is run by a bunch of assholes.

The CDC is allowed to register official statistics on gun deaths and injuries.
Do you think they just make up numbers in reports like this?
You have to respect that the party didn’t just fall over themselves defending another “D”.
Third time’s the charm.
What they’re saying: Youth advocacy groups praised the creation of the office, which will be led by Stefanie Feldman, a longtime policy advisor to Biden on gun violence prevention.
Is Harris no longer leading this office?
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden has asked Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the first-ever federal office of gun violence prevention, which will seek to find ways around congressional inaction to stem rising violence.
Harris, a former prosecutor and state attorney general, has years of experience on the issue and was the natural fit to lead the effort, White House officials said. Adding the new office to her portfolio means Harris is tasked with some of the highest-profile domestic issues — including voting rights and abortion, as well as the increase in migration to the U.S.

As another poster highlighted, blue team doesn’t want to kill the golden goose.
That is a possibility.
Democrats would be happy to try ANYTHING to solve this issue.
Have you considered that they actually don’t give a fuck?
Federal prosecutors nationwide, between 2004 and 2015, charged an average of 32 people a year with knowing they were forbidden from owning a gun but still trying to sneak past a background check, according to a report by the Office of Inspector General released Sept. 28.
The inspector general found “no significant” change in the number of prosecutions for lying on the background checks since Sandy Hook.

Great, I’ll mark that on my calendar.
