Congress passed a stopgap bill to avert a government shutdown just hours ahead of a critical midnight deadline when funding for federal agencies was set to run out.

The Senate passed the measure Saturday evening after the House abruptly reversed course earlier in the day and passed a bipartisan bill to extend government funding after days of uncertainty over whether a shutdown could be averted. The bill will next need to be signed into law by President Joe Biden.

The bill will keep the government open through November 17 and includes natural disaster aid but not additional funding for Ukraine or border security. It also includes a measure to keep the Federal Aviation Administration operational.

The US credit rating should drop from this and it should happen every time these fascist radicals do anything. This stupid bullshit is criminal. Copy Australia, if they can’t do their job, everyone loses their job and we start over with all new elected representatives.

Why are any fellow Americans stupid enough to vote Republican? I just don’t get it. This is the party that only benefits billionaires and its powerbase comes from the poorest and shittiest places in the country. Like why don’t these people realize the ruse? It is shitty be cause it is Republican.

I love how Republican brinksmanship leads to this absurd self-fulfilling prophecy that government doesn’t and can’t work. It turns out bad faith reaps bad outcomes.
