The goth scene does skew heavily caucasian to begin with. Add to that, a tendency for people in its ranks to like Pagan things, are Pagan themselves, or just enjoy Folk Metal, or really enjoy the look of Celtic tattoo work. Sadly, those tastes and aesthetics are often co-opted by people that are actually into some hateful racial purity or nationalism. You honestly don’t know what you’re dealing with until the occasional non-white goth person just shows up to the club to have a good time, and now your friend just starts frothing at the mouth, beside himself with anger at this development. Racism never entered the conversation before that point because there was nobody around to bring it up; just an asshole hiding in plain sight. Fuck those guys.
Oh, and some people keep their really offensive tattoos in spots you don’t see until they’re naked. Be careful out there.
