The time device was such a good gimmick. Aging soldiers into dust never got old. Ahoy’s videos are always worth the watch.
I remember playing that game and thinking: “Why is this shooter that I heard nothing about so good? This does not make sense”
Singularity is amazing. This and The Darkness were some of the more unique shooters I played in that era.
I remember this game being talked about simply because it was good AND because it basically had no promotion done for it. Like, every review said, “Activision just released a perfectly solid game out of nowhere for some reason.”

I know he only releases around 2 video per year, but they always seem amazing. He’s in a short list of YouTubers who I support on patreon along with defunctland and noclip.
Singularity was a hidden gem I found a WHILE back and recently picked it up on GoG to have another go at it. Really is a cool experience and the graphics still hold up just fine. Hope this post means the game gets some traffic and attention
This is one of my favorite games. Really takes care of that emptiness left after finishing Bioshock
Have yet to watch this one, but I loved Civvie’s vid on it.
Played a bunch of their earlier titles without knowing who they were. Parents were disturbed by Hexen but OK with DOOM. Go figure.

Seems to happen a lot for his vids.This one itself Didn’t show up in my subscribed feed.
I literally haven’t used the subscribed feed in over a decade ever since they first started doing that shit. At one time I was subscribed to 300+ channels, now I’m only subscribed to one singular channel I never check (Tomii11, a young boy who at the time had brain cancer and wanted to be a youtuber so there was a grassroots effort to help him find success) because they thoroughly enshittified the subscribed feed (and no I’m not going to click the fucking bell I don’t want notifications, I want a functioning feed).
I avoided it for a long time. I find it bizarre that it can’t even fulfill its intended purpose. I figured it was because he occasionally talks about controversial subjects and people reported it. Otherwise I chalk it up to Youtube being so insanely enshittified and greedy. I’m not surprised by anything idiotic they do at this point.
Youtube wants to push political garbage these days. At least you have the joy of a few long Ahoy videos. The XCOM video is incredible.
I don’t doubt that happens to people but I’ve been curating my feed for over a decade, I don’t get any of that – for my main feed it’s a mix of video game analysis/essays, speedrunning, science videos, and RWBY, and I’m in the process of re-curating to get RWBY to show up instead of science because I never actually interact with the science videos beyond watching and I have an entire other feed for edutainment.
