NASA James Webb Space Telescope recently captured this high-resolution infrared image of the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex, the closest star-forming region to Earth. The data reveals approximately 50 young stars, many with masses similar to our Sun, emerging from dense molecular gas. The prominent red jets indicate molecular hydrogen outflows, occurrent when a star first bursts through its natal envelope of cosmic dust. This observation provides critical insights into the early stages of stellar evolution and the formation of planetary systems within our galaxy.
