Just because it also ends in *ite, and it’s fun: I learned about Fordite (a.k.a. Detroit agate) recently.

The pronunciation “KUM-ing-ta-nyte” looks like it was written mid-orgasm.
That’s not an a, that’s a schwa, the silent e.
I actually just bought a small piece of cummingtonite because of this post. Thank you for spreading awareness for the existence of this mineral.
It’s a mineral found only in Uranus.
