I really think people who are not posting anything here but JK Rowling posts should be discouraged if not a rule made for it. I think an overwhelming portion of the fan base disagree with or at least are aware of her opinions on trans people.
I like HP, I like HP memes and JK won’t see another cent from me. Which sucked because I wanted to play legends due to never getting any real solid HP games as a kid. That said, I would like a HP community that isn’t plagued with these sort of post though.
Since then, due to JKR funding anti trans organisations with millions of pounds, I’ve reassessed my position.

We’ve been discussing it between this community mods and the instance admins. The conversation is still ongoing, we’ll keep you updated once a decision is made

Feel free to create this one on another instance. Be ready to get a lot of backlash if you have a rule saying "this community doesn’t allow to talk about JKR actions against trans people ". You can expect defederation from a few instances, and probably the whole instance being qualified as “transphobic friendly”

In the pinned post it seems the community wants a space to talk about Harry Potter and not JKR. I don’t know what you want to discuss with the mods and admins, ask the community.
That’s good to know, but a brief glance over your post history showing more soccer post than anything related lead me to that assumption.

Which why I don’t think frequently posting about her is needed or on topic.
"this community doesn’t allow to talk about JKR actions against trans people "
Or the rule could be phrased as “this community acknowledges and disavows JK horrendous views and actions against the trans community, however it is not the topic of this community and is discouraged due to this and inciting negativity. “

If those instance wanted to defederate because I wasn’t willing to have off topic posts of the latest hate filled tweet from an idiot, then that’s their prerogative.

You can take any reprehensible behaviour and phrase it that way

Admins tend to avoid defederation as it impacts the experience of all of their users. But as I said, if you find an instance that would welcome such community, feel free to create it.
I wasn’t doubting you, I was explaining the reason for my incorrect assumption.

I rephrased a rule to seem less “suppressing any criticism of JKR” as your provided example. It highlight her actions and makes it clear what the comm is about.
Ok and? That doesn’t have anything to do with wanting a space to discuss HP and HP related memes without JKR? Because one comm does things a certain way, all must? No.
… But as I said, if you find an instance that would welcome such community, feel free to create it.
I’m aware I could create a comm, thank you. I’d much rather advocate this for the current community as I am currently doing rather than just taking my ball and starting an entire new comm. I get you disagree and that’s fine but I’m not the only person tired of seeing content from a pitiful, hateful person in practically any HP related community.
There’s an ongoing discussion between the two mods of the community and the admins instance for the reasons mentioned above.

it sounds like you are personally against the community that you moderate for. that’s probably a bad idea, right?
surely what the community wants is what’s important. hence the reason for the creation of this community in the first place.
there’s two mods in the community and they want different things, so it would probably be a good idea to give mod to someone who actually wants to see the community thrive.
I not sure what makes me feel more weird about this, feeling the need to announce this, waiting until now to do so or alt posting to a comm you mod.

I’m unsure what your position is here, that these communities, be it in Lemmy or elsewhere aren’t frequently dealing with the posts I referenced or that people (plenty of which, have explicitly told you) aren’t tired of it. I am sure this conversation has probably reached its apex and that by this stage we’re probably not going to learn anything further about each others opinions.

It would probably also be a good idea to wait for the instance admin’s feedback. Which is what we are doing now.
