This design looks so cheap to me, it’s just a bunch of random covers, there is no information about the movies presented in any way, the covers are way too big and take up an inordinate amount of space and there is nothing breaking up sections, design is just so fucking dumb now, fuck mobile

I don’t know what you want them to look like? They’re displaying posters of movies and shows that they have, in different lists and orders. How else would you like them displayed?
They all look like this, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Pluto, Hulu. If you can’t see the problem then I don’t know what to say, there is no design at all to the page it is just some movie posters on a page. It is boring and lazy and lacks any artistic skill or panache whatsoever. It’s just another way they are making the web into boring unimaginative shits as they are
But again - what do you actually want them to look like? These types of UI put the entire focus the content - isn’t that a good thing? Would you prefer they just arbitrarily waste space and clutter it up with random flair?
The point of going to Netflix is to find something to watch, not to just browse around enjoying the website design. People want the least friction possible in apps like this.
Can you give an example, any at all, of a movie/tv streaming app/site design that you would prefer, and explosion why?
It’s just such a bizarre complaint. You want less focus on the content, and a more “busy” UI for what reason?
Like I can’t possibly imagine a better, more user friendly, easy to use, more discovery friendly UI for a video library streamer than this on a phone for example:

Companies like Netflix have spent ungodly amounts of money on their UI/UX because their entire business depends on it being easy to use, easy to read, easy to find what you want, easily readable at all screen sizes and resolutions, on every device that it can run on. It’s basically UI/UX perfection for its purpose, which is putting the focus on the content.
