For nearly a century, vets have camped on the National Mall and slept on the steps of the Capitol to rally for their benefits. On June 6, they're bringing the fight back to Washington.

"The year was 1932, and the men who’d served in World War I were demanding the bonus pay they’d been promised for their years fighting in Europe. Calling themselves the Bonus Expeditionary Force, or the “Bonus Army,” veterans hitchhiked and rode freight train boxcars from all over the country to get to Washington, DC. They protested for months, and the entire nation took notice.

In 2025, a new Bonus Army has assembled and plans to rally in Washington on June 6 to protest the administration’s cuts to Veterans Affairs and federal employment, where veterans and their families comprise 30 percent of the workforce."

    Hey wasnt this the march that Hoover ordered the army to fire on? They killed vets and their families for demanding the benefits they were promised after ww1

      I’m all for paying what is promised. The gov has perpetually fucked vets.

      Reading the butler page, I just lol’d at the fact America fought a Banana war.

      I knew the US couped for fruits and oil, but I’d never seen it referred to as banana wars.

      The things America won’t do for money.
