I’d say that journalctl is not only boot, but every service that runs on the computer has its logs collected through it, so you can use it as journalctl --grep="your regex". You can also add -k to check kernel logs, -b -n to check nth precedent boot or -b n to check the absolute nth boot. There is a lot that you can check with it and it is quite nice :)

Otherwise, I like eza as an ls replacement, or batcat as a human friendly cat

Something that should not be forgotten is that hardware matters to. If Nvidia, Intel or AMD has an interdiction to sell to a country, you can have all the FLOSS software (Fair, Libre and Open), if you have no hardware then tough shit. Using RiscV for this would allow to have an instruction set that already have nice support (I even heard it can be used for GPU) to bring nice or newer stuff to the table. For manufacturing, a Netherland company is producing the tools of TSMC so there is that, at least.

I am already running rootless podman. My question is more about dedicated service users vs single user to run everything, still in rootless podman. I like podman and its integration with systemd to manage the life cycle of the container compared to docker.
