Valve’s best behaviors and worst behaviors are motivated by profit.
That’s where I disagree. Valve is not a publicly traded company. It is not beholden to shareholders to strive for profit above all else, and it shows in Valve’s leadership.

“Valve Child Gambling” brings up nothing. Care to enlighten me? As well as hand-wavey “a lot of concessions”…care to elaborate?
You’re kidding, right? They’re the only ones safeguarding the industry and making it so you’re not watching ads once every 3 minutes to get a few more coins in your PC games.
They provide one of the best distribution networks in the PC industry, and they constantly stand on the side of the players vs corporate interests.
And hedgehog means spikepig.
So they’re ocean spike pigs.
I’d LOVE if they actually put a 5c fee on all stock transactions. Would put a damper on HFT really fuckin’ quick.
For those in California, forced arbitration is not enforceable as it’s against the law.
Roku was the most enshittified ecosystem well before anyone else. They were always the worst.
PVC fell out of use in the 2000s, most buildings use PEX now; but I don’t know how that compares.
Voice recorder. Not phone call recorder. When I said phone components I’m not talking about the smartphone’s sensors and components. I’m saying the “phone” components which make the smartphone able to receive and make calls. That’s actually a sandboxed environment.
Yep, even metal-canned sodas have a plastic liner on the inside of them.
Everything is an algorithm. Even just drawing rounded corners on a button is an algorithm.
There’s also security sandboxes and stuff in Android which don’t allow interaction with the phone components. You ever notice that there are no apps at all which can record the call you’re on? That’s why. They’ve locked it down so that you don’t have the tools to create such an app in the first place.
You know what I miss? Answering Machines.
I’m tired of voice mail. I want my “voice mail” to live ON the phone and be provided by an app.

Calling it now: No it won’t.
If I could get a VPS for $2/mo for something like this, I would definitely swap off of my VPN provider. If you do a ‘build your own plan’ with Windscribe, it’s $2/month for me, and they easily saturate my symmetrical gigabit connection. Anything close to that price is usually an incredibly small amount of metered bandwidth comparatively. This month I’ve used something like 30tb worth of bandwidth without blinking an eye.
Encrypted volume? If so, that’s why.
Nobody mad. Didn’t hurl an insult at you, didn’t crawl in the mud with you and act like a child. But you couldn’t stand your own ignorance, and you had to lash out because you didn’t understand. Tried explaining it to you, and you doubled down. No reason for me to be mad at you wanting to remain ignorant.
I thought MAGA were as dumb as you could get, but here you are proving me wrong. Way to go. The bar was pretty low and you still couldn’t step over it.
That’s where I’m saying you are wrong.
Publicly traded companies are beholden to their shareholders, and MUST strive to make money above all else. Privately held companies can put that profit motive behind other more important motives. Sure, does Valve want to make money? Absolutely - we’ve all got to make a living.
But is that their ONLY goal at the expense of everything else? Also, clearly not - or we’d have ads on every steam store page, we’d be paying monthly for steam, and you’ve seen all the shady, shitty things that all the other wanna-be steam competitors have done. So clearly valve does not value profit above everything.
