It’s not a benefit denied to American citizens; it’s a benefit denied to people who haven’t lived in the state for a certain period of time. That’s like me complaining that I can’t receive unemployment benefits from Washington state (the highest in the nation) solely because I live and work in Michigan.

Cynically? After the elections are held, Trump and the Republicans are going to challenge every single Democrat headed for office, and SCROTUS will uphold enough of those challenges for the Republicans to keep control (like they did in Bush v Gore). They’ll point back to these rulings as evidence of their impartiality.
