I have mixed feelings about this.

I always find it interesting how people become expats instead of immigrants just based on the fact that their country of origin is the US or the UK. Englishman in Spain? expat. US American in France? Expat. Pakistani in the UK? Immigrant. Mexican in the US? Immigrant.

That’s not how VAT works. As a business you pay VAT as an input tax. You can deduct that from your VAT liability at point of sale. The business is liable to pay VAT on the sale to the end consumer but can (and does) recharge it to the customer. Not a tax expert at all, so I might be off a bit - but I am sure that you don’t pay full VAT on every R&D, production, sale step along the process.

Well yeah, they had it in 2022 because they wanted it in 2014 when they took it from the sovereign country of Ukraine.

And I am not suggesting anything, I was asking where they will stop after conquering Crimea and currently trying to conquer Ukraine. So, where will they stop - if at all?

I think different parties have different goals in this war. And in general I think the goal of a sovereign country, to stay sovereign within their own borders is not an illegitimate goal.

Nearly a decade since they took it from Ukraine. So the solution to avoid war is handing Russia all territory they want? Where does that stop? At the polish border? At the German border? French border? At the Atlantic?

You are right, air travel is no fundamental right. Same as air travel in complete silence.

What about ugly people or people with body odour? Do we not allow them to travel on planes, too? I can easily block noise with earplugs. Can’t really plug my nose or keep my eyes closed all the time.

Why is everyone else responsible for your comfort? Wanting all families banned from airtravel just because wearing earplugs is asking too much is in my opinion a lot more selfish than bringing a child onto a plane.
