SecDef Rumsfeld (POS) once questioned if we were creating more terrorists than we are killing? You can say a lot of nasty things about old Don, but it was a good question. He just didn’t ask the next question, “what happens if it comes home to roost?” If it’s radicalization by Turner diaries in Las Vegas or ISIS in New Orleans, the effect is the same. We live in a complicated world and look for simple solutions.
Number of flu cases in Britain has spiked. Bad winter ahead
Course those are the names that make MAGAs heads explode.
Bill Nye the Science Guy is also on the list.
But, my favorite is Jose Andres.
Blah, blah, blah, snivel, whine.
Expect this for four more years.
Honduras, like many poor Central American countries, relies heavily on income from citizens living abroad. About 20% of its income comes from Hondurans living in the US.
Doesn’t matter. It is all symbolic bullshit, not actual policy. Mace got her desired headlines for her little hate tantrum. That’s all she wants.
Although now she’ll probably try to force a vote on the floor on it at some point in the future, just to score more political hate points
I call it an asshole competition. Basically a measurement contest to see who is the biggest. I don’t know why anyone in their right mind would want to be in such a contest, but that’s me.
Hey Steve, when that guy shot you on the baseball field was that somehow DEI too?

I like the Mouse (Disney who owns ABC) is already in full supplicant mode. Chef’s kiss.
Pulitzer-winning editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes says Washington Post blocked her cartoon
"The Defendant has been found guilty on 34 felony counts. The significance of the fact that the verdict was handed down by a unanimous jury …cannot possibly be overstated. …The sanctity of a jury verdict and the deference that must be accorded to it, is a bedrock principle in our … jurisprudence.”
If I remember right, history says the flags were at half staff during Nixon’s inauguration, due to the death of Truman. Nixon didn’t make a fuss about it.
Edit for all those responding below: Of course, Nixon was a WWII veteran, serving in the Navy in the Pacific. Known as the fleet’s best poker player, but that’s another story. As such, he also served under Truman who ended the war by dropping the bomb. Conjecture is that the troops appreciated Truman’s decision. In the end, Nixon respected Truman. Trump respects no one.
Thanks for changing title.
If you watched the vote, there was a message. The new rules say that 9 Republicans only can file a motion to vacate the speaker’s chair. The original vote had 7 Republicans not voting and 3 voting for others. At the end, when members could vote who haven’t, the 7 voted for Johnson and 2 of the three who voted for others eventually did as well. This was a message to Johnson. There are more than 9 Republicans who could vote for a motion to vacate.
Guardian is incorect
Done and dusted. Johnson is about to gavel the new congress.
First vote no majority. Backroom deals being made.
Backroom deals successful. Votes changed. Johnson reelected
The House rarely takes a voice vote by member. Each members name is called and they respond on who they vote for. This kind of vote only happens when speaker’s are elected. There are verbal votes taken by the house as a group, with times as you describe. At that point, the side that is shouted down makes a motion for the yeas and nays. This makes all the members vote, now by electronic ballot
Watching C-Span. Going for first vote. Voice vote by member. I’m saying the first one will be a tie.
Let’s get rid of the joke first
I’ll drink to that.
Such a major indictment of the Republican Senate majority and their complete subservience to the Orange Jesus in installing the least qualified and most unfit person ever to be nominated for the top Pentagon job.
