Prior to the launch of the Sanders Institute, the Independent senator was harshly critical of then-rival Hillary Clinton over the Clinton Foundation.

“If you ask me about the Clinton Foundation, do I have a problem when a sitting secretary of state and a foundation run by her husband collects many millions of dollars from foreign governments, governments which are dictatorships?” Bernie Sanders told CNN at the time.

“You don’t have a lot of civil liberties or democratic rights in Saudi Arabia, you don’t have a lot of respect there for opposition points of view, for gay rights, for women’s rights. Do I have a problem with that? Yeah, I do.”

To summarize: “OMG, Sanders donated campaign funds to a non-profit we don’t like!”

The Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) also allows members to donate campaign funds to any entity described in section 170© of the Internal Revenue Code, including charitable or educational organizations, or governmental entities.

I remember listening to him 12+ years ago when he was regularly on “Best of the Left” etc - I’m not sure what happened but now he’s an anti-vaxxer ivermectin nut.

It’s really sad, I really liked him at one time - he used to make a lot of sense to my very lefty mind, and then at some point I realized the things he was saying were becoming more conspiracy than reality and that I didn’t really agree with him anymore. I like science and evidence, not crazy bullshit.

Democrats see him as a Republican, Republicans see him as a Democrat.

Independent media activist and jorunalists see him as a lefty and righty.

Look at his policies and see for yourself.

You do have a point. I come accross a lot of people that don’t watch certain people due to politics. That is how we get bubbles and tribes.

The frustration at Hilary was that it was Saudi money, not that it was money going to the Clinton Foundation, was it not?

I’m not totally up on campaign finance law, but don’t most politicians have or be long to these political lobbying organizations?

A quick search basically says the Sanders Institute works to get progressives elected, so that seems a legit use of campaign money, or am I clueless on this?
