evangelical Christians are so sexually repressed from puritanical beliefs, it drives them into sexual deviancies in some cases.

Letting the Puritans leave instead of killing them
Letting them settle a continent instead of killing them
Letting them live after defeating them in a civil war
Letting them take over government instead of killing them
Just gonna point out that the Puritans who settled in the North like those of the Massachusetts Bay colony eventually evolved into churches like that ran by old John Brown. Northern Puritans were often times radical egalitarians who helped lay the groundwork for things like the og labor movements of the 1800s, eventually some even evolved into modern universalist churches.
I note all of this to say that Southern derived Puritans are little more than slavers under new clothes. It’s all to reinforce the Southern derived social order and hierarchy, which is to say if Northern Puritans were subject to their congregation and their god Southern Puritans were subject to the rich and their bigotry.
Sorry just something that I think needs to be spread about, I ain’t even Christian I’m a Heathen but Northern Puritans are distant kin so I feel the need to defend them. Also some of them were based and outright armed union militia which is just fucken great.
It’s more the evangelicals, not the puritans. Evangelizing / forcing their beliefs onto others with no regard to other’s wishes is a core evangelical belief.
The Puritans literally came to the new world to start a theocracy. They weren’t seeking freedom from oppressive British rule. They were seeking a place where they could force their extreme views on others.
Later on, their supporters in England actually took over, killed the king, installed their own leaner (Cromwell), and led England into such a clusterfuck that the English revolted against the Puritans and asked the dead King’s son to come back and be King.
I’m angry too but there MUST be better solutions to these problems than genocide. It’s easy to wave your hand and say “make them gone forever” but it’s lazy and cruel. If you want it fixed, put the time in. Genocide is for pussies.
I feel like openly advocating for genocide doesn’t make you much better than them.

Ehh… As someone who currently lives here, things got a lot worse after trump and covid. I would say more than half the population here are bigots and proud to lack any kind of empathy towards anyone who isn’t exactly like them.
Also, the state isn’t really gerrymandered. It’s just that the only two slightly progressive areas are OKC and Tulsa, and even they don’t usually vote blue for statewide or federal elections. Oklahoma is securely the most conservative state in the union. Imo people here are just shittier than anywhere else I’ve lived, and I grew up moving to a new state every 3 years.
I mean the state idolizes Sooners, which were basically white people stealing from each other so they could steal as much native land as possible. The culture here is just based on being proud, being an asshole, and taking pride in how much of an asshole you are.
