I’m glad he’s holding off on visiting for the short term. I remember during hurricanes Charlie Francis and Jeanne Florida got a presidential visit and it shut down responder and resource flights to help those affected for several hours at a time we needed the help more than the President needed the PR.
The damage is severe enough that holding off until locals can accommodate the POTUS is a much better outcome. First responders have other priorities.

Some people in a tragedy, do actually welcome a visit from a head of state as an acknowledgement of the suffering they and their community are going through.
